The 4th edition of Racing Madagascar Ultra Trail 2019 starts in 10 days. Organized by Boogie Events, the sporting brand of the Boogie Pilgrim Group, this 150 km 6-day race will take place from July 15th to 20th, 2019. The symbol of this year’s race is the Baobab, in reference to the magnificent Baobab Forest crossed during long stage 4 (41 km). This majestic tree is endemic to Madagascar: of the 8 existing species in the world, 6 are only growing in Madagascar!
A summary of the participants below:
- 16 registered from 7 countries: Madagascar (5), Belgium (2), France (3), Germany (2), Japan (1), Sweden (1), United States of America (2)
- 10 men, 6 women
- 7 juniors (20 to 29 years old)
- 5 seniors I (30 to 59 years old)
- 4 seniors II (+60 years)
Noteworthy participation of Ulf Andersson. Faithful among the faithfuls: it will be his 3rd participation in the Ultra Trail Madagascar! With his second place at the 24km trail-run during the Two Ocean Marathon (Cape Town, South Africa), Jacquis Justin Rakiky will put his title in play. He will also try to beat his own record: finish the course in less than 11 hours and 08 minutes.
The Ultra Trail 2019 course remains the same as 2018, with a small change for the last leg. The entry into the city of Diego Suarez (finish line) will be made by a small hook to the mountain of the French. This new route will add altitude to a fairly flat course, but not without technical difficulties with rivers to cross and portions of sand to go.
Follow the race on our Facebook page, with updated results as much as the telephone network allows to publish them, in these remote areas of Madagascar.
Long live the trail, live sport and long live Madagascar!
